COLUMBUS, Ohio - Sophomore sprinter Janica Austin represented Lafayette at the 2008 USA Junior Track & Field Championships at the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium at Ohio State University. The championships, which were held June 20-22, featured top student-athletes from colleges around the country.
Austin competed in the 100-meter hurdles where the top nine finishers advanced to the finals. Her time of 14.16 earned her a 10th-place spot, missing advancing to the finals by .02 of a second. Teona Rodgers of Florida State won the event with a time of 13.60.
Austin is the 2008 Patriot League champion in the 100-meter hurdles and holds the school record in the 60-meter (8.66) and 100-meter (13.89) hurdles as well as the 200-meter dash (25.51).
