2008 Patriot League Football Spring Prospectus
Center Valley, Pa. - The regular season is on the horizon now that all seven Patriot League Football teams have run through their spring practice schedule.
Each of the schools held a spring game or scrimmage to culminate their 15-practice allotment.
Every Patriot League team has at least 13 starters returning on offense and defense, with a League-high 16 for Colgate. Fordham will go in search of consecutive League titles in the fall after capturing the outright crown with a 5-1 mark a year ago. Holy Cross quarterback Dominic Randolph enters his senior season after winning the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year honor last year, while Lafayette senior linebacker Andy Romans is back after winning the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year award. Colgate senior running back Jordan Scott needs 362 yards to break the all-time Patriot League rushing record.
The next step in the preseason schedule is the Patriot League Football Media Day on July 31, when the League's preseason poll and award winners will be announced. Patriot League teams will return to the practice field in August, with Colgate the first to face regular-season action on August 30 at Stony Brook. The Patriot League opener takes place on Sept. 13 when Georgetown visits Lafayette.
