CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- The Colgate men's soccer team will make its first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 1966 when they face South Florida in the first round. The match will be played on Friday, Nov. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in Tampa, Fla.
The Raiders enter the contest following its first Patriot League title since 1997. Meanwhile, the Bulls own a 12-5-2 mark and reached the quarterfinals of the Big East Championship.
Eric Anton of Colgate won the Patriot League's Offensive Player of the Year, and teammate Dan Belke was tabbed the League's Defensive Player of the Year. In addition, Anton, Belke and Matt Leach were named to the First-Team All-Patriot League squad, while David Cappuccio earned second-team honors.
The winner of the Colgate-South Florida contest will face 14th-seeded Akron (15-3-2) on Wednesday, Nov. 28.
Last year, Patriot League members Lehigh and Bucknell advanced to the third and second round, respectively at the NCAA Tournament. This marks the eighth consecutive appearance by the Patriot League in the NCAAs, and the Raiders are the sixth Patriot League team to advance during that span.
