Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Release - 4.28.08

April 28, 2008

The Colgate Raiders claimed their third Patriot League Tournament Championship in the past five seasons when they defeated top seed and host American 13-8 on Sunday. The Raiders move onto the NCAA Tournament play-in game, where they will face MAAC Champion Marist on Saturday, May 3 at Noon.

Patriot League in the NCAA Tournament
The Patriot League has yet to win an NCAA Tournament game, but has come close on several occasions. The closest was in 1991 when Lafayette lost to Penn State by a score of 11-9.

RPI Ranking Released
The first RPI rankings of the 2008 season were released last week, and here is where the Patriot League teams ended up:
47. Lehigh
51. Colgate
52. Navy
53. American
64. Holy Cross
70. Bucknell
81. Lafayette

All-Time Leader
Lafayette senior Madalyn Booth ended her career with a few records of note. She finished third in NCAA history with 134 assists, which is also a Patriot League record. Booth has also moved into fourth place on the career points list with 269, and finished just outside the top 10 career goals list with 135. Joining Booth in the hunt for the top 10 career goals list is Lehigh junior Sara MacIntyre, who recorded her 100th career goal in a win over Lafayette, and now has 121 for her career. American senior Jackie Lane finished her career just outside the top-10 career points list with 178 for her career.
