From Lafayette Athletic Communications
EASTON, Pa. - Alison Fisher, formerly the assistant women's lacrosse coach at La Salle University, has been named head coach of the Lafayette program. She returns to Lafayette, where she was a four-year letterwinner in field hockey and lacrosse from 1997-2001 and served as an assistant lacrosse coach from 2002-03.
"It is with great pleasure that we welcome back Alison Fisher to Lafayette as our head women's lacrosse coach," said athletic director Bruce McCutcheon. "She was the consummate scholar-athlete at the College and has become an outstanding coach. She has championship experience both as a player and as a coach. We look forward to her many contributions to our program."
Fisher brings seven years of coaching experience to College Hill. She spent the last year at La Salle where she assisted in coaching, player development and game preparation. The Explorers had two players receive all-conference honors during the 2008 season.
Prior to her stint at La Salle, Fisher spent four years as an assistant coach at Princeton. The Tigers qualified for the NCAA Tournament all four years, reaching the championship game in 2004 and quarterfinals in 2005 and 2006. The team boasted eight All-Americans, three Ivy League Rookies of the Year and three Ivy League Players of the Year during her tenure. Fisher aided in all aspects of recruiting and acted as the assistant director for Princeton lacrosse camps.
The Horsham, Pa. native was a four-year defender for the Leopards, serving as the captain her senior year and led the team to its second consecutive Patriot League championship in 2001. Fisher also excelled in the classroom, receiving Patriot League Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in 2001 as well as Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolades for field hockey in 2000 and lacrosse in 2000 and 2001. Additionally, she was the recipient of the Class of 1913 Trophy as Lafayette's most outstanding scholar-athlete in 2001. She graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Biology.
Fisher worked as a graduate assistant at the University of Delaware for the 2001-2002 academic year while pursuing a master's in Health Services Administration. She returned to College Hill in August 2002 and spent a year as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator under head coach Rebecca Joseph.
"I am thrilled to return to Lafayette to begin the next chapter in the lacrosse program's history," Fisher said. "I am passionate about the mission of the College and the athletic department and I look forward to working with the current student-athletes as well as marketing all the school has to offer to talented prospects in the future."
Fisher takes over for Kathy Frick who resigned in May.
