AU Women's Lacrosse Names Courtney Farrell as Assistant Coach

July 21, 2008

WASHINGTON - Courtney Farrell was named the new assistant coach of the American University women's lacrosse team by head coach Katie Woods on Monday. Farrell comes to AU fresh off of a decorated playing career at Cornell University. She will mainly work with the development of the attacking unit.

"We're excited to have Courtney join our program. Her successful lacrosse background is a wonderful addition to our team. Courtney was an All-American at Cornell and has experience working with the US developmental team," commented head coach Katie Woods. "We have a great group of student-athletes returning, and I know they will enjoy having Courtney as a coach."

While at Cornell, Farrell was a four-time All-Ivy League selection and was named to the first team in her final three seasons. She was also named a First Team All-Northeast selection three times and was on the Tewaaraton Trophy Watch list as a junior and senior. Farrell garnered IWLCA/US Lacrosse Third Team All-American accolades in 2008. Farrell currently holds program records in career points (213), career assists (91) and season assists (34).

Farrell has spent the last three summers coaching clinics for the United States Developmental Team and assisted in numerous other clinics and camps across New York. In the spring of 2008, Farrell completed an externship with the Cornell lacrosse program.
