ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA) has announced the promotional schedule for the 2008 women's soccer season. The Navy women will play 13 games at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility, where they turned in an undefeated home mark (9-0-1) in 2007 and boast an impressive 23-1-1 record (.940) over the last two seasons.
Navy opens the 2008 campaign on Saturday, August 23, against Vermont, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Immediately following the contest, fans will have a chance to meet the team and get autographs from their favorite players during the first of two "Meet the Mids" nights.
A men's and women's soccer doubleheader on Saturday, October 4 is one of the many highlights of an exciting promotional calendar that awaits Navy soccer fans this fall. Fans will be treated to a double dose of Navy soccer as the women kick off against Patriot League rival Bucknell at noon, and the men follow in a contest against Lehigh. The doubleheader will mark the premier of the "Navy Nation" tailgate, where fans can experience all the festivities of a football tailgate, but at a soccer game. There will be an inflatable game obstacle course for kids and members of the Billy the Kid Club will receive free admission and special benefits.
For the Sept. 5 and Oct. 10 games against Winthrop and Lafayette, respectively, a family can purchase four tickets, four drinks and four hot dogs for just $20. All fans that purchase a ticket to these Friday home dates, as well as those on Sept. 19, Sept. 26, and Oct. 17, are encouraged to "Make it a Navy Soccer Weekend" and will receive a free ticket to the women's contest on that subsequent Sunday.
Following the Mids' game against Lehigh on Sunday, October 12, fans will have a great opportunity to learn the game and have fun as the members of the women's soccer team will host a free youth soccer clinic.
Season tickets for all Navy home games (men and women; 17 games in all) are just $60 for adults and $30 for youth (17 & under). Tickets may be purchased online at the ticketing section of www.navysports.com or by calling 1-800-US4-NAVY.
