Center Valley, Pa. - American junior Krystn Hodge was named the Patriot League Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year, it was announced on Wednesday by Patriot League Executive Director Carolyn Schlie Femovich. Hodge becomes the first American women's soccer student-athlete in Patriot League history to win the prestigious award.
Hodge, a psychology major with a 3.70 cumulative grade-point average, was a member of the 2006 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in her first season of competition. The junior from Rye, N.Y. became a member of the team in 2006 as a walk-on.
Hodge had a breakout season for the Eagles in 2007, ranking second on the team in scoring with 22 points. She tallied nine goals and a team-high four assists. She played in all 19 games this season for the Eagles, and ranks in the top-five in the Patriot League this season for points (22), points per game (1.29), goals (9), goals per game (0.53), assists (7) and game-winning goals (5). The junior was a key offensive component on an American team that finished the regular season with an undefeated record of 4-0-3.
To be eligible for the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen are not eligible for this honor.
The Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for each individual sport comprises the pool of nominees for the Patriot League Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards given out over the summer. One male and one female are selected for this honor.
